Our ROM Romp Today

Thanks to Ling's setting us up, here we were able to take in ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, Japan, Canada, etc., at one of North America's premier museums, the Royal Ontario Museum. After meeting our old friend Djed, it was off to different spots for photos and selfies and lunch. Do share your pictures and feel free to steal stuff for your Facebook pages!
Over the long weekend, think about what you found interesting or surprising there, and share it when we get back to class on Tuesday. Here's what I was thinking. Though there were statues, busts, mummies, canopic jars, paintings, and ossuaries for all kinds of ostensibly important people, we didn't find a single sketch or bust for people like Moses, Isaiah, John the Baptist, or the Twelve Disciples. Yet we know their names but not the names of all the important or rich folk portrayed. Another thought--there are no tombstones, coffins, or ossuaries of Jesus! Now, isn't that interesting?

Thursday: Field Trip to the ROM

Thank God for some generous sponsorship--we're headed for the Royal Ontario Museum this Thursday.

Please meet at 9:30 a.m. at the coffeeshop just above the subway platform in Don Mills Station.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, a packed lunch, and your camera!

Free tickets are available for our LINC participants, but others can join in by paying the regular entrance rates.

You can enjoy the Forbidden City special exhibit for a special price.
