August 23 Riverdale Farm
Discover this tiny jewel of agriculture right in the middle of our city! Bring your camera, snacks, water, walking shoes, and maybe an umbrella. If your in-laws, building superintendent, neighbourhood burglar, washing machine, or pet goldfish want to come along, too, you may bring them in tow, by all means.
Those who are going by TTC, let's meet in front of the coffee shop inside Don Mills Station at 9:30 a.m. Remember to get a TTC transfer! As it is a school event, you should not have any difficulty finding the group.

Bleak, dreary, and quite miserable four years ago ... Let's hope we get better weather this time!

Around 12 noon, we'll be
having lunch at the North York Ikea (at Leslie/Sheppard) and taking a tour of some of the interesting offerings there, courtesy of Wendy, Lena, and Katie, our knowledgeable classmates.

August 15 Tasty Thursday & City Hall
They all will be there, we're told, when our class goes to visit City Hall and one of this summer's famous Tasty Thursdays!
Bring along family, cameras, sunblock, sunglasses, umbrella, in-laws, pets, Ripstiks, Rollerblades, and the kitchen sink, and $7 for each person (if you're planning to buy lunch there). And be ready for a good time!
Let's meet at 9:30 a.m. at Bayview Station's westbound platform. The plan is to jump off at Queen Station and walk over to Nathan Phillips Square via the Old City Hall. Those who would like to meet at the current City Hall's entrance should look out for us around 10:15 a.m.
August 2 Scarborough Ribfest
Welcome to
Scarborough's annual festival of barbecued ribs and corn and gigantic onions! Have a look at how the locals have been spending their summers from time immemorial. See what community events can happen when volunteers get together and do something, in this case the Rotary Club of Scarborough.
Bring a pocket full of change, or bring your own lunch, and
let's have a great picnic there. We could carpool there and perhaps swing by a thrift store and a cookie factory on the way!
Let's gather at the Don Mills Subway Station's passenger pickup (see map below) and leave at 9:30 a.m.

July 26 Honest Ed's Sixty-Fifth Anniversary Sale
Let's meet
at 9:30 a.m. at Bayview Station and head down to Bathurst Subway Station to visit
one of Toronto's most iconic shopping destinations for newcomers. There's
a sale going on, and it won't last. Honest Ed's has announced that, like its wares for the last 65 years, it's up for sale. So let's go load up on 25-cent things and perhaps check out the multicultural eateries in that neighbourhood. Bring your kids and friends along!
