I have learnt about Remembrance Day or Poppy Day. I don't know it before and it is really interesting, because we don't have such in my native country.
I would like to learn more about Thanksgiving. I would like what type of food is offered to guests.
Canadian culture is considered typical western culture. This week I have learnt what is the white lies and why people would like to maintain white lies rather than say it straightforward, when they interact with each other, No matter stranger or in a familiar relationship. I'm comfortable with give compliment to strange people, because of human always like positive feedback. I would considered this kind of behave as a empathy behviours. What am i not comfortable with is white lies were overused so that it's hard to initiate a deep conversation , that would be result in harmful relationship.
I have learnt a lot about Memorial Day in Canada, as known Remembrance Day. It's a national holiday observed on November 11th. One of the iconic symbol of Remembrance Day is red poppy flower, which is worn as a symbol respect and remembrance. It brings to mind Ukraine's own Day of Remembrance, a day of reflection and tribute to those who have sacrificed for our county.
I learned the white lies. it's a very interesting culture. It is very helpful for me to learn English, because, even if there are a lot of mistakes in what I say, they don't laugh at me, which makes me feel good.
Actually The white lies in Canada culture same my hometown and I really like that because When u use White lies with friends and family u avoid conflict and tenish and keep friendship and relationship ,And second one is a freedom for women and all pepole ,and one thing im not comfortable with is strictness about drive license I dont like that because i have 7 yeras experiences about driving and here im not accept for G full

I would have you learn more about Thanksgiving. I would like what type of food is offered to guests.
We learned about the Canadian War Memorial Day. Every November 11th, people wear red poppy flowers on their chests to express condolences and deep remembrance for the brave soldiers who sacrificed themselves in the war. I feel that this culture is very good. Heroic soldiers have exchanged their own blood for peace. We must always remember their heroic deeds and pass them down from generation to generation.
It's been an interesting week. We learned about "Remembrance Day", worked with different kind of mistakes, discussed the importance and problems associated with "White lies" , and learned how to write "Excuses". There were a lot of new vocabulary words for me, because of this I experienced difficulties.

The Ethics of White Lies

White lies are a common form of deception that many people use to avoid hurting others' feelings or causing unnecessary conflict. A white lie is a harmless or trivial lie, often told to be polite or to spare someone's feelings. For example, telling a friend that their new haircut looks great, even if you don't like it, is a white lie.
While white lies may seem harmless, they can have unintended consequences. For one, they can erode trust between people. If someone discovers that you lied to them, even if it was a white lie, they may be less likely to trust you in the future. Additionally, white lies can perpetuate misunderstandings and prevent people from addressing real issues. If you always tell your partner that everything is fine, even when it's not, you may be avoiding important conversations that could improve your relationship.
On the other hand, some argue that white lies are necessary for social harmony and politeness. Without white lies, people might be more blunt and hurtful in their interactions, leading to more conflict and tension. Furthermore, white lies can be a way of showing empathy and compassion for others. If someone is going through a tough time, a white lie can be a way of showing support and kindness.
Overall, the ethics of white lies are complex and depend on the situation and the people involved. While white lies can be a way of showing kindness and avoiding conflict, they can also erode trust and perpetuate misunderstandings. It's up to each individual to decide when and if to use white lies, and to be aware of their potential consequences.

What Some of the Nicest Reading Artefacts Look Like

The task was to: Read basic safety rules on a workplace poster (CLB4R). So, after a crossword-based vocabulary pre-reading and separate group learning of a 10-point poster of that sort, learners were instructed to:

  1. Tell your new group your order of importance of the 10 points.
  2. Discuss and decide as a group on the most important 5 points.
  3. As a group, think of 3 more points based on your experience.
  4. Do you think the pictures so far have been good? What could improve? What would you create instead?
  5. As a group, come up with a new workplace safety poster with 7 points and the best picture you can think of.

How did that all turn out?
