Monday's Assignment

Welcome back! This morning, we start off on the theme of health and safety--a healthy lifestyle!

So how often do you see the doctor? Do you visit your family doctor at least once a year? Discuss with your partner how often people should see their doctors.

Friday's Assignment

T.G.I.F.! Having focused on L, R, and W tasks all week, today we finally turn our attention to an S task.

Have you ever made a business introduction by yourself? How long, in minutes, should it take to make a business introduction? What should you include? What should you not?
What's wrong with this lady's self-introduction? Tell a partner one or two of your favourites from among these.
Here are your tasks:
  1. Write down a business idea with your partner, practise to get it down to 2 minutes, and record it on chirbit.com.
  2. Then take notes on this video, and redo the recording.
  3. Post both recordings on your blog, and leave comments on your classmates’ blogs on whether you would invest with them.

  1. Role Play: Disagreeing Politely in Business
    1. Work on vocabulary: find new words.
    2. Find out the pronunciation of the words in bold.
    3. Read aloud by yourself. Then read with the class.
  2. Listen to one Dragons’ Den pitch, and note down the offer ($ for %), product/service, names, outcome, and any other comments.
    1. Include or embed the URL of the pitch you chose to listen to.
    2. Discuss with a partner any signs of politeness/impoliteness in the video.

    1. Read aloud to a partner and check on pronunciation.
