Monday Afternoon: Meet Wally!



Find Wally in this picture:

1. Write a short list of directions on how to find Wally.
2. Sit with a partner and give directions on finding Wally in these pictures.

Who usually asks for directions in your family, the husband or the wife? Who makes the other ask for directions? Have you asked or been asked for directions in English?

If you were the GPS, where would you locate this car?

Here are your tasks:

1. Vocabulary: Asking for Directions
1. For each utterance, practise saying it in your L1, and quickly follow that by saying it in English.
2. Then do it again, all in English.
2. Role play: Getting Directions and Parking Instructions
1. Practise it by yourself, and then with a partner.
2. Repeat, taking turns having one partner not looking at the words. You may paraphrase using correct equivalents.
3. Record it with one or both partners not looking at the words, but make sure to introduce yourselves and what you're doing before role playing.

Thursday's Field Trip To DBAF Museum at 2647 Bayview

This Thursday's field trip meets at Durdy Bayramov Art Foundation's museum at 2647 Bayview at 11 a.m. If you're driving, parking is limited (see map below for street side parking on Berkindale). There are buses going there from Bayview Station.

Durdy Bayramov was a painter and photographer who lived in Canada for six months. During this time, he added the synchronic style of Canada's Group of Seven artists to his diachronic depiction of the Spanish greats. On Thursday, be among the second LINC group to enjoy the artistic talents of Bayramov as part of our Canadian multicultural art appreciation experience!

When you're on the job hunt, what's a good way to let others know about your goals and abilities?

Sometimes you get lucky.

One way to make yourself known is to dress the part.

Another is to make a resume.

Here are your tasks:

1. Role play by yourself and then with a partner: Working Part-Time Jobs
1. Rewrite the dialogue with your partner, keeping the words in bold.
